KNOXVILLE, IA (SEPT. 3) – Blake Feese has always enjoyed racing
at the sprint car capital of the world, Knoxville Raceway, and he concluded
the Knoxville Raceway season in fine fashion charging from 22nd to finish
third.
"After we left the nationals, we knew what we had to do to make
the Beaver Drill car fast again. Unfortunately, it took a couple of
weeks to figure out,” said Feese, who took time away from his
NASCAR career to return to the sprint car ranks for a handful of dirt
track races. “That final race at Knoxville was the most fun I
have had in a long time, probably all year. Now it’s time to get
refocused on the Dover Busch race.”
Feese now returns to Hendrick Motorsports in North Carolina and will
attempt to qualify for his third Busch series event of the season the
Stacker 200 at Dover International Speedway on September 25th.
The race at Knoxville Raceway on August 28th continued the belief to
a lot of fans in the sprint car world that Feese has tons of talent.
He qualified the Beaver Tool #12x sixth and was involved in a heat race
accident with Clint Garner on the first lap. The contact got Feese upside
down, but the team made repairs and Feese finished second to Terry McCarl
in the B main.
In the Feature, the Saybrook, IL driver was on a charge as he started
next McCarl, who won the Knoxville Track championship, in the 11th row
and charged to finish third in the 20-lap feature event.
"At the halfway mark, I thought we were going to be able to get
to the leader, but I used up my tires getting to third,” said
Feese. “Third was as far as we could go. Knoxville has one of
the toughest weekly programs in the country, as Terry McCarl showed
everyone at the Knoxville Nationals. It was a lot of fun for me to come
back and race competitively against those guys."
“I would like to thank everyone on the Beaver Drill & Tool
team for giving me the opportunity to race their car in the month of
August,” continued Feese. “They are a first class bunch
and have a great team. It was fun driving their car again.”
Feese will have a busy schedule of testing prior to the Dover race as
he will test at the Talladega Superspeedway for the ARCA race and also
at Dover for the Busch race.
